Tesla’s Model Y joins Hertz fleet

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (TRADING SIGNAL GROUP) – Hertz Global Holdings Inc has added Tesla Inc’s Model Y midsize SUV to its fleet, the car rental company’s website revealed on Wednesday.

What happened Until now, only the Model 3, the most affordable electric sedan in the Tesla portfolio, was available for rental on Hertz’s US platform.

However, the firm did not specify the number of vehicles or Model Y variants that have joined – or will join – its fleet. Benzinga could not immediately determine reservation rates for said Model 3 and Model Y, as our inquiry had not yet received a response at the time of this article’s publication.

The Tesla Model 3 range costs between $46,990 and $61,990 in the United States before subsidies; the Model Y is positioned between 62,990 and 67,990 dollars.

Why it matters Hertz last year announced plans to buy 100,000 vehicles from the world’s EV leader by the end of 2022, also tapping Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Tom Brady to promote the OK.

This decision had been considered audacious on the part of a company which had just emerged from bankruptcy no more than a few months earlier.

Hertz has also partnered with ride-sharing company Uber Technologies Inc to exclusively lease 50,000 Teslas by 2023.

However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk later tweeted that his company had yet to sign a contract with Hertz, adding that it would sell its cars at list price to its potential partner.

Hertz had told Benzinga in December that it planned a wider rollout of Tesla vehicles in the United States this year.

Price Movement On Wednesday, Hertz stock closed up 2.3% at $22.5.
